Australian Professional Photography Awards 2016
The Australian Professional Photography Awards were held over the weekend in Melbourne, another year of nerves and excitement followed by mass partying! This year I had planned to be there amongst the crowds of fellow photographers, but alas I was off partying with a different group of people attending my first wedding with my husband as a couple in many many years!
In past years of the Photography Awards I have been very humbled to pull of the highest scoring print in the family category, however 2016 was not my year. I entered four images, 3 into the family category and one into portrait. This year and returned a solitary Silver award. This is nothing to pout about. A silver in a national competition is a wonderful achievement for any photographer. The AIPP have been working tirelessly over the past two years to tighten the reins on the competition rules and to be honest its left me feeling deflated, it took a long time for me to be able to wrap my head around the rules to fit within my way of photographing and come 2017 I will be back and firing on all cylinders.
Congratulations to all of the winning photographers for both singular awards and category wins! Bring on 2017 so we can do this all over again!
